A lot of our ability to handle critical feedback is based on our self-image and the guilt we experience from childhood messages. How can we counteract those two aspects, so ingrained in our very being?

One powerful way to counteract self-critical messages is to change how we think and what we believe about ourselves and our situation. Our beliefs have tremendous impact on the outcome of any situation. Eleanor Roosevelt said, memorably and truly, that “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” It all comes back to our beliefs.
