External vs. Internal Success

An interesting research study was conducted by several psychologists who wanted to examine differences in how men and women internalize positive and negative feedback and experiences. Specifically, the study explored how men and women view success and failure.

The participants were divided into same-sex groups—the men worked together and the women worked together. Both groups were assigned the same task. The first task was to assemble a puzzle that was impossible to put together—it was rigged and both groups were doomed to “failure.”
