Another question arises when proofreading numbers—when do you use words and when do you use figures or numerals? Do you want the number to stand out in the sentence? If so, use numerals. Do you want the number to be less obtrusive and formal? Use word format. However, since deciding the correct form based on these two suggestions is too subjective, consider these rules for expressing numbers.
