Chapter 2. Proofreading for Accuracy > Proofreading for Grammatical Errors

Proofreading for Grammatical Errors

“How well we communicate is determined not by how well we say things but by how well we are understood.”

—Andrew S.Grove, CEO, Intel Corporation

In both speaking and writing, you express your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs in the form of sentences. To review, a sentence is a group of words that has a subject and a verb and expresses a complete thought. The subject is the person, thing, or idea being described, and the verb shows what the subject is or does. For short, readable sentences, keep the average sentence length at 15 to 17 words or fewer.
