Chapter 1. Writing Self-Assessment

Before you begin to write, pause for a moment. Think about what you do well in writing and what you would like to improve. For example, you might feel comfortable with your knowledge of the fundamentals of good writing (more on this later), but you might not be sure how to write persuasively.

For the next few moments, think about your own skills and assess your writing ability. This exercise will help you focus on specifics. It will give you direction to improve the skills you possess or to acquire the skills you would like to possess.
