Chapter 6. Summary > Speaking Before an Audience

Speaking Before an Audience

Think about the fact that every time you open your mouth to speak, you are letting others see into your brain. If the words you speak are well-organized, others will assume you have a fully functioning brain. If, on the other hand, you mumble and stumble, your audience will begin to think other thoughts rather than attend to what you are saying.

One indirect way to develop your speaking skills is to watch and listen to what the best do and then employ some of the same strategies they use. Practice incorporating the best from the best into your own speaking style.
