Quotation Marks

Quotation marks (?) are used when you are reporting the words of a speaker. They are also placed around certain titles. You should put quotation marks around the exact words of a speaker, but not if you are putting the statement in your own words.

Correct: Mr. Dicker said, “I am very pleased with your progress.”
Correct: Mr. Dicker said he was very pleased with my progress.
