Six Techniques for Success

Besides these five questions, there are a number of techniques that will prove useful to you in presenting technical information:

1. DEFINE TERMINOLOGY. Certain key terms will be common to anyone who works in your immediate group. In the morning, a group leader in a nuclear power plant may write a memo to a colleague about a projected start-up date for the 809 MWe BWR. When a reporter for the local newspaper arrives for an interview that afternoon, however, the group leader must be prepared to chat about the first day of operation of the 809 megawatt electric boiling water reactor, a nuclear facility that will provide .809 billion watts of power.
