Chapter 23. Selecting Persuasive Strategies—Three Cases

In each of the following cases, assume that you are facing the audience described, in an attempt to persuade them to take a particular course of action, or to adopt a particular attitude. In each case, answer two questions:

  1. What is the source of the resistance you face in that audience? (Note that there may be more than one source in a particular audience!)

  2. What particular strategies are most appropriate to overcome the source(s) of resistance in this audience?
