What Kind of Audience Do You Have?

As a guide to determining the kind of audience you’re going to face, review the following questions, and match the answers to the categories

1: Does my audience know already anything about what I have to say to them?

—— NO. You have an UNINFORMED audience and should choose your strategies accordingly.

—— YES. Go on to questions 2 and 3 to find out what kind of audience you do have.

2: Has my audience already shown either support for or opposition to my position?

—— YES. Your audience isn’t UNINFORMED. Now find out if they’re ACTIVELY SUPPORTIVE, SUPPORTIVE, UNFRIENDLY, ACTIVELY UNFRIENDLY, or UNDECIDED.

—— NO. Is your audience NEUTRAL or UNINFORMED?

3: Has my audience ever done anything that would categorize it as an ACTIVE audience—either ACTIVELY UNFRIENDLY or ACTIVELY SUPPORTIVE?

—— YES. Choose your strategies accordingly.

—— NO. Determine if it is UNDECIDED or NEUTRAL.
