Review of Section VII

Humor Keepers Worth Keeping

(Check those with which you agree)

  • Everyone in an organization is in sales.

  • Humor breaks down sales resistance.

  • Humor can be used as an unexpected event to focus attention and help transition your sales effort.

  • Humorous anecdotes can also be used to paint vivid pictures of customer needs, product benefits, and examples of legendary service.

  • Humor gives a sales presentation a human touch and makes products, services and ideas come to life.

  • Even in humor, there is no justification for misrepresentation.

  • It is never a good idea to make fun of the product. But it is a great idea to have fun with the product.

  • Humor will help get past “gatekeepers” and surly screeners.—Don’t be difficult, be funny.

  • Short humorous anecdotes will handle sales objections by showing how problems can be overcome.

  • Humor should be secondary to your product or service benefits.

  • Never associate your product or service with “negative” humor.
