When Humor Doesn’t Work

Humor can be defined as that which makes us laugh, smile, or amuses us. Unfortunately, not all humor works. Humor can detract from a serious discussion. It can be used to deflect valid criticism. Some never-say-die comedians have been criticized for “never taking anything seriously”. Balance again is the byword. Humor can be used to disarm anger, but it “works” for both parties only when it is used to go beyond the laughter and solve the problem that produced the anger.
