“Murphy’s Law”

The list of Murphy’s Laws that abound in every company are a testimonial to the importance at laughing at the real world of change. As Rosebeth Moss Kanter has said, “Every change looks like a failure in the middle.” Here’s a collection of laws that take advantage of humor in the midst of changing companies.

Laws, Rules and Other Truths

Finagle’s Rules: Don’t believe in miracles—rely on them.

Franklin’s Law: Blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall not be disappointed.

Navy Law: If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, you don’t understand the situation.

Probable Dispersal Law: Whatever hits the fan will not be equally distributed.

Runyan’s Law: The race isn’t always to the swift, or the battle to the strong, but that’s the way to bet.

Truman’s Law: If you can’t convince them, confuse them.

Jones’ Law: The man who can smile when all things go wrong has thought of someone he can blame it on.

Submitted by Joseph E.Drew, Jr., the jocular Director of Personnel with the Kern County Personnel Department, in Bakersfield, CA.
