Using Urgency Breakers

The amount of stress experienced in any situation is largely a perception of the event. The same situation can create panic in one person and generate laughter from another. Well placed humor can break the urgency cycle and create a different, less stressful, perception. It’s the dead serious types that drop dead; they live in a continual state of pressure. Just because we are miserable doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy our lives. Instead of being consumed with crises, some people learn to roll good-naturedly with what life gives them. “Urgency breakers” can help you provide that perspective wherever you are; they “reframe” even the most frustrating moments. We can learn to reframe stress into an opportunity. When you realize that the past is finished and you can laugh about it, you are free to bounce back and get busy fixing the problem or preparing for what to do the next time it happens. Do any of these “urgency breakers” sound familiar?
