Just as “savers” and “cover-ups” can be prepared for and practiced for the right time, you can develop comebacks that will turn snarls to smiles in even the toughest customers. Try some of the following with those tough situations.

Strategies That Work

“Yes, I’m the dummy you’re yelling at!”

“Would you like to nail me to the wall now or later?”

“If I died, would that make you happy?”

“My name is…I never said it was God.”

“I will never relinquish my right to screw up.”

“I didn’t do it, and I’ll never do it again.”

“Thanks, I needed that!”

“Is there anything else you don’t like? I’m on a roll here.”

“You don’t like what I’ve done so far, and you’re hoping the rest of my day will be at least as good.”

“Hi! How did I destroy your morning?”
