Organizing a Report

“Have the report on my desk by 3 p.m. Friday.” These words can strike terror in the heart of any business writer! Why are business reports and proposals so challenging? For one thing, because usually they are longer and more detailed than memos or letters. Also writers may feel extra pressure because readers may be company officers, co-workers, or important clients. Often the boss will be scrutinizing the writer’s words and ideas.

One way to reduce the anxiety of writing a business report is to have a strong organizational plan. A good plan builds confidence. Here are two ways to effectively organize a business report.
