Other Organization Formulas

The basic formula just presented is the one most commonly used in business presentations. Several other formulas have useful applications as well.

The Motivated Sequence

Alan Monroe and Douglas Ehninger are associated with this formula, which may be effective for certain persuasive presentations.[15] It may fit well for neutral to negative audiences, where revealing the true purpose and message early may bring the presentation to an abrupt halt. This formula does not "tell 'em" in advance. The main message is not stated until late in the talk, after an important need has been established and developed. It is roughly how Mark Antony in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar turned around an audience that initially was opposed to his proposition.
