Levinson said in an article in Dun's Review, "In a sense, every executive speechmaker is an actor, giving a performance for the edification, entertainment, and approval of a highly specialized audience. Since the delivery is as important as the content, an executive needs a bit of the ham."[1]

A century earlier, Emily Dickinson described a fellow author: "She has the facts, but not the phosphorescence."[2] That could fit many of today's presenters: knowledgeable, thorough—and boring.
