Chapter 6. Word Processing > Using Model Letters

Using Model Letters

The same letter is often written to different business customers. Rather than retype the letter every time you want to use it, you can store those letters you use frequently on a computer disk and call a letter up each time you need it.

Take, for example, Sample Letter 6.1, which is sent to customers who open a new account. Rather than have the same letter retyped each time a customer opens a new account, you can simply call up the letter from a master file of letters you have stored either on a diskette or hard drive and tailor it to reflect the particular situation. Once you've done this you can save it as a different file so that the master document remains intact.
