Chapter 7. Sales, Marketing, and Public ... > Letter Asking for Referral

Letter Asking for Referral

Sample Letter 7.49 was written to an existing customer with whom the writer has recently met. The writer first takes care of business by telling the reader that his application has been received. Next the writer asks the reader for possible referrals who might be interested in his services. He describes the type of clients he is looking for and suggests that he call the reader to see if he is willing to recommend some people. The tone of the letter is congenial, not at all pushy. The letter writer makes it clear that it is entirely up to the reader whether or not to make referrals.

Sample letter 7.49. Letter asking for a referral (semiblock format).
