Part: FIVE COMPLETE SET OF TRANSPARENCY ... > The Strategic Communication Model

Appendix A. The Strategic Communication Model

The Strategic Communication Model provides a foundation for the preparation and delivery of all your oral and written messages. What's attractive about this model is that it is both efficient and thorough—a clean, five-step strategic process for professional, managerial, and corporate communication. An understanding of the model will allow you to be more credible and more persuasive when you present, write, interview, or interact in teams and groups. The model reminds you to:

  1. Learn everything you can about the environment: the current situation, your target audiences, and your objectives with each of those audiences.

  2. Consider your options: Who should send the message, how should the message be sent, and when should the message be sent?

  3. Use that knowledge to select and organize specific information to meet your objectives with your audiences.

  4. Deliver your message with a confident, personal style.

  5. Evaluate feedback for continued growth and success.
