In the following scene, Phyllis (supervisor) and Nicholas (supervisor) are seated at the table in the conference room. There are day planners and folders on the table.
Phyllis: Nicholas, I heard that you had some concerns about the new schedule.
Nicholas: Yes. From what I understand, everybody's schedule will change. I just don't think that's fair. We're so used to our current schedules, and now we have to adjust our lives to a new one. It's going to be a big mess.
Phyllis: Well, Nicholas, you sound really worried. Let me see if I can eliminate some of your anxiety. Everybody's schedule might change, but some people will still be on the current schedule. It sounds like you might have a reason to keep your schedule the same. If that's the case, let me know, and we'll make sure you're on that list.
Nicholas: Really? That would be great. I'm really concerned that I won't be able to pick up my daughter from daycare on time, but if I can keep the same schedule, it would really be a big help.
Phyllis: Sure. Nicholas, don't ever be afraid to come to me with concerns. We'll work them out as best we can.
What element did Phyllis paraphrase? Was Phyllis able to see the emotion and feeling behind Nicholas’s statement?
