Chapter 12. Interjections > Using interjections in informal writing

Using interjections in informal writing

Interjections are generally used in informal writing, and they bring emotion or exclamation to a sentence. Frequently, interjections stand alone as a sentence, such as “Wow!” or “Great!” However, they might be included within a sentence. For example, “oh” is used as an interjection in the following sentence, “Oh, I forgot to pick up the package!” Interjections, or sentences introduced with interjections, are usually followed by an exclamation mark.
