Chapter 25. Unit summary: Improving sentence structure

Topic A In this topic, you learned that sentence fragments are incomplete sentences that have been punctuated as if they were complete. You learned that most sentence fragments are missing something—information, a subject, or a verb.
Topic B Next, you learned about the tactics used for correcting run-on sentences. You fixed run-on sentences by changing a comma to a semi-colon, adding a coordinating conjunction, or creating two separate sentences.
Topic C Then, you learned how to write clearer sentences by recognizing passive voice and converting it to active voice. You also discussed the situations when passive voice is acceptable.
Topic D In this topic, you defined infinitive verbs. You identified split infinitives and learned how to avoid using them in a sentence. Finally, you discussed some general guidelines for writing correct, effective sentences.
