Grammar Skills

Unit 1

In this unit, you defined grammar as the study of the proper use of language. You discussed the benefits of grammatically correct business documents, and the importance of knowing the levels of grammatical organization. Student identified nouns and the plural and possessive noun forms. You defined verbs; examined simple verb tenses; and classified verbs as transitive, intransitive, linking, and auxiliary. You explored the different verb forms: present and past participles, progressive and perfect verb tenses, regular and irregular verbs. Finally, you learned how verbs are used as participles, gerunds, and infinitives.

Unit 2

In this unit, you learned about the seven pronoun categories. You examined the three categories of personal pronouns: first-, second-, and third person pronouns. You identified and used nominative, objective, and possessive pronoun cases.
