Needs of audience members

According to a model created by psychologist Abraham H. Maslow, the needs of audience members can be classified in a hierarchy of five categories. Maslow believed that people had to satisfy the needs in the lower levels before they would be able to consider the higher-level needs. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs includes the following:

  • Survival needs

  • Safety needs

  • Social needs

  • Esteem needs

  • Self-actualization needs
