Fear of speaking

Although public speaking cannot actually harm you, your mind might still perceive it as a threat. If so, your body responds by preparing you to fight the danger or flee from it. This reaction is known as the fight or flight response and causes many of the symptoms you associate with being nervous, as shown in Exhibit 5-2: cold or trembling hands and legs, nausea, perspiration, and dry mouth.
