Capture attention

Many of the audience members might be preoccupied with distractions outside the room, in the room, or they might be thinking about other things. Therefore, your introduction will need to break this preoccupation.

After you have their full attention, you’ll need to focus on maintaining it. To keep the audience interested in the rest of your presentation, you should provide them with sufficient reason to listen. You can do so by telling them why the topic is important, relating the topic to them, and telling them what they’ll learn from the presentation.
