Questions That Periodic Reports Answer

Different audiences will require different formats, but essentially, periodic reports should cover the following topics:

  1. Orienting information: project addressed, time reported on, background, changes in report format.

  2. Evaluative overview of work done for current reporting period: the report's thesis and a conclusive statement of what happened.

  3. Current status: a review of the major actions and their significance in moving the project along, problems encountered, and recommendations.

  4. Conclusions: a summary of the significance of what has happened, including a preview of future work and objectives.
