Sample Professional Document Design

After a rather heated debate over the usefulness of a newsletter for the Office of International Education, Kevin had successfully convinced the staff of the benefits that such a publication could have. From that point, the meeting became quite productive. Jessica Haysmith, Assistant Director for International Students and Faculty, recommended something that Kevin hadn't considered. In addition to reporting the general happenings of the office, each of the three sections—Overseas Programs, International Students and Faculty, and the Intensive English Language Center—should provide an article addressing a current issue or concern in the respective areas. She also suggested that the newsletter be distributed bimonthly to save on production costs.

Kevin thought that these were good additions to his initial proposal. They could be excellent publicity for his Overseas Programs section, while allowing each member of the staff to participate in writing and producing the newsletter. In addition, Kristina Elswood, Kevin's assistant, reminded him that if the newsletter proved successful, they could consider applying for grant money to distribute it to alumni supporters and other international education programs nationally.
