Exercises

Following are three socioeconomic problems of the workplace that call for a collaborative problem-solving effort. In groups of at least three members, consider the three cases, and then choose one to analyze and attempt to solve. Your analysis and response need to be done collaboratively, using the methods, techniques, and general technology discussed and explained in this chapter. Besides the response called for in each of the cases, prepare a memo report to your instructor that outlines specifically how your group collaborated on the solution to the case problem. Therefore, the ultimate products of this exercise will be a response to the case problem written in your capacity as a committee of the organization featured in the case and a memo report to your instructor written about your actions as a collaborative problem-solving group. The amount of time allotted for this exercise should be determined by the schedule as established by your instructor, but we suggest a week to complete the exercise to accommodate the process of collaboration.

Note: The cases may suggest some consideration of secondary research sources. Your group should decide on the extent of secondary source reading necessary to approach a solution to the problem.
