Who Gets Introduced First?

How would you introduce each of the following pairs to each other?

1: Anne Holmes, mayor of San Jose, to James Jackson, CEO, XYZ Company.
A: “Mayor Holmes, may I introduce James Jackson, CEO, XYZ Company. Mr. Jackson, please meet the Honorable Anne Holmes, mayor of San ‘Jose”
2: Alexander Smithe, director of surgery, ABC Hospital, to Dr. Hillary Sparks, director of pediatrics, XYZ Hospital.
A: “Dr. Smithe, may I introduce Dr. Hillary Sparks, director of pediatrics, XYZ Hospital. Dr. Sparks, please meet Dr. Alexander Smithe, director of surgery, ABC Hospital.”

OR,

“Dr. Sparks, may I introduce Dr. Alexander Smithe, director of surgery, ABC Hospital. Dr. Smithe, please meet Dr. Hillary Sparks, director of pediatrics, XYZ Hospital.”

3: Reverend Patricia Sanchez to Lenny Goldstein, your husband.
A: “Reverend Sanchez, please meet my husband, Lenny Goldstein. Lenny, this is Reverend Patricia Sanchez, pastor of Grace Congregation.”
4: Tony Lee, VP of Finance, XYZ Company, to Susan Smartt, SVP of Purchasing, XYZ Company.
A: “Ms. Smartt, may I introduce Tony Lee, vice president of Finance. Mr. Lee, this is Susan Smartt, senior vice president of Purchasing.”
5: Kellie Martin, your five-year-old daughter, to Christine Nguyen, your boss.
A: “Christine, this is my daughter, Kellie. Kellie, this is Ms. Nguyen, my manager.”
6: Nancy Franklin, account representative, your organization, to Hank Rivera, vice president of human resources, XYZ Company.
A: “Mr. Rivera, let me introduce Nancy Franklin, one of our account representatives. Nancy, please meet Hank Rivera, vice president of human resources, XYZ Company.”

NOTE: You may use the person’s first name for direct address if you have a personal relationship with the individual. Always use the full name when making the introduction. See “E” above. For example, in “A,” if you know both people, you could say: “Anne, may I introduce James Jackson, CEO, XYZ Company. Jim, please meet the Honorable Anne Holmes, mayor of San Jose.”
