Getting together with people outside the office is a good way to bond with and establish lasting relationships with co-workers and customers. Socializing with people you work with can be fraught with difficulties and pitfalls that can trap the unwary.

Over time, your customers may become your friends and your friends may become your customers. It’s important to separate activities that are based on or related to business from those that are personal and come from your friendship. While you might be more casual and comfortable with someone you consider a friend, concentrate on business first, then socialize.
