Chapter 18. Becoming an Assertive Learner

Some people meet their mentors as passive learners. They expect to be “sponges” for information that will be properly dispensed by a mentor, who knows just what to say and do. This is not effective for either the mentor or the mentee.

Assertive learners focus on what they need to know and what they want to accomplish. They share their needs and goals with their mentor(s) as a first step in the relationship.
