Listening carefully is an art that is too often done badly. For example, many individuals miss the most important part of a message because they don’t really hear the other person’s feelings. In reality, another person’s feelings may be the most important part of the message.

Virtually all human motivation involves feelings. Hearing those emotional drivers can tell us whether or not our mentor takes a given subject seriously and to what degree.
