Chapter 24. Identifying Useful Mentee Skills

Until recently, little thought was given to developing mentee skills. Since most formal (organizationally-sponsored) mentoring programs were designed to prepare the mentee to enter specific types of occupations (such as technical, administrative, or managerial jobs), it was assumed that selected mentors from those fields knew everything the mentee needed to know. Mentees might be given a brief overview of the program, but that was about the only training they got.
