Chapter 40. Aligning Your Needs and Your Mentor’s Abilities

We cannot reasonably expect our mentor to know everything and be able to do everything, or be able to answer all of our questions. Yet many mentees assume that because their mentor is more experienced, perhaps better educated, or has greater access to organizational resources, the mentor should be able to teach them anything or solve any problem they might have.

Like anyone else, a mentor has strengths and challenges. Most will respond to inquiries as best they can, based on what they have learned or experienced.
