As shown by the spectrum on the previous page, mentees can seek out, or be offered, formal organizational support, informal help, or even situational (short-term) interventions in which no on-going relationship is established.

Actually, most mentoring relationships tend to evolve over time and be somewhat dependent on the power and value of the initial experience. Mentors and mentees often become friends, which means that in the future they can approach each other for mentoring on an as-needed basis. Such relationships can be long distance, last a long time, or exist for specific purposes.
