Chapter 19. Learning Ladder > Step 4 Recite & Write

Step 4 Recite & Write

Once you have formed questions on your reading and have read to answer those questions, you are ready to recite the answers. Use your underlining and markings to guide you. Recite the answers out loud (or to yourself). Also write brief study notes which will help encode the information in your long-term memory for easier retrieval on the final examination.

Write a sentence summary of the main idea in each paragraph if the material is extremely difficult for you.

The recall cues you wrote in the margins are an essential step. If you use those cues to recite, you may not need study notes in some classes.
