A Schema Describing Your Vision of Your Future with the Company

This area goes beyond responsibilities you’d like to grow into because you are sharing your long-term vision with your management. It might be a bit intimidating for you to say that you want your boss’s job or that you are interested in moving to another area in the company. If you are a strong employee your manager will be surprised if you didn’t claim this aim.

It is not a bad thing to know the steps you want to take with your career and where you see yourself realistically topping out. You might want to be the CEO of the company, but is this a real possibility? What are the obstacles that you can see to the jobs you want to attain in the long term? How can you begin to prepare now to combat those hurdles? Which jobs will best prepare you on your road? What additional classes do you need to take? Who is the champion that can mentor you along the way? A candid conversation with your management or with human resources puts your vision on the map and on the record.
