Chapter 18. Management by Type > Men Versus Women as Managers

Men Versus Women as Managers

Leaders have competencies that transcend gender. People have styles that differentiate them from one another. Intelligence, passion, strategic thinking, and open-mindedness have no gender. You can work for someone who is a confident, intelligent, generous mentor without gender being an issue. You can have a bully boss, an insecure one, or an egotistical one that is either a man or a woman. A person can be exclusionary or inclusive regardless of gender. Stereotypes in terms of style still abound. Men are thought to be the most aggressive and women are still tagged as being catty. There are plenty of aggressive women and plenty of catty men.

Intelligence, passion, strategic thinking, and open-mindedness have no gender. Greatness, or lack of it, is about the person’s viewpoint, intelligence and passion, style, experience, and contacts in and outside of the company.
