Chapter 17. How to Pick (and Get Along With) Your Boss

Whenever you have an opportunity for a job change, you have the chance to carefully decide whom your next business leader and career guide will be. No one in your day-to-day work is more important than your immediate manager, because this person can help you to learn and grow, while building an environment where real happiness and fulfillment in the workplace are possible. Contrarily, a bad boss can make your entire life absolutely miserable.

You hopefully know what motivates and inspires you, and you have some idea of the long-term career path you’d like to take. You know the communication style that works best for you, and you also know the values that you bring to the party and want to live and work by. When you and your leadership are in sync in terms of values, communication, intent, politics, and process, you can be most free to enjoy and deliver excellent and fulfilling work.
