Unit Five. Work-Related Materials

Unit Five. Work-Related Materials

I'd gone through life believing in the strength and competence of others; never in my own. Now, dazzled, I discovered that my capacities were real. It was like finding a fortune in the lining of ones's own coat

—Joan Mills

We recommend you include examples of the following in the Work-Related section of your portfolio.

  • Evaluations

  • Teaching assistantships

  • Research assistantships

  • Consultation

  1. Gather all relevant information pertaining to job descriptions, assistantships, and evaluations.

    1. Do you have relevant work experience that stands out for you or would interest prospective employers?

    2. Have you any examples of highly satisfactory evaluations?

    3. Have employers recognized abilities you possess?

  2. How does the above information describe you as a person?

    1. Do you notice specific strengths?

    2. What areas on the evaluation do you feel need improvement?

    3. Are there any areas that you sought to explore outside of jobs or assistantships?
