Chapter 18. Plotting and Layouts > The Basics of Plotting in AutoCAD

The Basics of Plotting in AutoCAD

Plotting includes more than simply outputting the drawing to your printer. It also includes configuring the paper settings, laying out the page, creating titles and other common graphics in title blocks, and configuring AutoCAD to work with your printer or plotter. This chapter starts by teaching you how to set up a plotter in AutoCAD. Next, you learn how to set up the page and lay out the graphic elements. Many of these topics are new to users of previous releases of AutoCAD, although they will seem very familiar to many users of the Windows operating system.

Topics that will not be familiar to most users are discussed in the "Using Advanced Plotting Features" section. These include the new Plot Styles feature, which lets you plot the same drawing in different ways, as well as other uses for plotting and other ways to output your drawings.
