View-Dependent Display

One of the most unique features of the new objects is that they do not force you to choose between 2D and 3D. As mentioned before, ADT could be used solely as a 2D design and drafting tool. In fact, the productivity enhancements that Architectural Desktop offers to standard 2D design and drafting alone is considerable. This includes the use of intelligent objects that automatically "clean up" the walls they are inserted into, avoiding the time-consuming editing of wall openings for each inserted door and window.

Regardless of this feature, the majority of novice users would prefer to work in 3D if it could be intuitive and not hamper their productivity. Working in three dimensions can be a tremendous aid in design, visually and conceptually. In addition, after a model is created, the building elevations and sections can easily be extracted from the model, decreasing the amount of time needed to produce working drawings.
