Chapter 22. External Database Connection > Exporting Link and Query Sets

Exporting Link and Query Sets

You can save valuable time when working with queries, links, and templates that apply to multiple drawings. If you are working on a multi-story building where a common query or template set can be applied to each floor (in this scenario, each floor represents a different drawing), you can reuse your queries and templates instead of recreating them for each drawing. This is done by exporting the query and template sets. If the database structure is such that the same table applies to each floor of the building, you can create the query and templates in one drawing, export them, and then import them into the next floor drawing.

In another scenario, you might want to share your query and link templates with a colleague. You can easily export the queries and templates from your drawing, allowing a colleague to import them into any other drawing, as long as the database is also being shared.
