Chapter 14. Dimensioning > Dimensioning in Paper Space or Model Space?

Dimensioning in Paper Space or Model Space?

All of the dimensioning you have added in this chapter has been created in model space, but it is also possible to add dimensions in paper space. In this final section, you will have a chance to practice adding dimensions in paper space, and to evaluate the pros and cons of each approach.

Earlier sections of this chapter looked at some of the scaling problems that arise when you are dimensioning in model space—and how to solve these problems. Some users feel dimension-scaling issues are easier to resolve in paper space (layouts), but in fact each approach requires you to understand the scaling issues and manipulate dimension variables appropriately. You cannot sidestep scaling issues simply by adding your dimensions in paper space. The question of which method is easier for any user largely comes down to which way was learned and mastered first.
