Chapter 20. Customizing Made Easy > Customizing the AutoCAD Interface

Customizing the AutoCAD Interface

By modifying the ACAD.MNU file, you can make changes to the different tools that make up the AutoCAD interface. Although the other menu tools must be altered manually, the Toolbars section can be dynamically generated through a drag-and-drop process and can be automatically saved in a separate ACAD.MNS menu file. When you are certain that you like the changes that have been made, you can incorporate them into the ACAD.MNU file.

Dynamically Customizing the Toolbars

The capability to customize and create your own toolbars is one of AutoCAD's best customizing features. It's easy to create your own toolbar: No programming experience is required, and it's a simple drag-and-drop process. By quickly creating a toolbar and assigning to it those commands you use most often, you can become even more productive. For example, you can combine the commands you use the most into one toolbar rather than having to select the same commands from multiple toolbars. This gives you one location to choose the commands you use the most.
