ePlot

AutoCAD 2002 formalizes the notion of an electronic plot by integrating the ability to create DWF files in the new plotting mechanism. Creating a DWF file is now no different from plotting a DWG. AutoCAD 2002 ships with two preconfigured ePlot plotter configuration (PC3) files. The DWF ePlot (optimized for plotting) .pc3 configuration creates DWF files that resemble AutoCAD Release 14 DWFs, and the output drawing has a black background. The DWF eView (optimized for viewing) .pc3 configuration file generates DWF files better suited to viewing onscreen.

Exercise 25.12 Creating a DWF File

1.
From within AutoCAD, choose the File pull-down menu, and select Plot.

2.
In the Plot dialog box, click to activate the Plot Device tab.

3.
Locate the Name drop-down box in the Plotter configuration section, and select an ePlot plotter from the list (see Figure 25.22).

4.
Review the filename for the DWF ePlot in the File Name edit box and rename as desired.

5.
In the Location field, enter a local or network folder, or a URL to which to plot the file.

6.
Click OK. The DWF is now created and placed in the directory as directed.
