Chapter 35. Customizing with DIESEL > Catalog of Frequently Used DIESEL Functio...

Catalog of Frequently Used DIESEL Functions

Like the functions in AutoLISP—to which they bear a strong resemblance—the various DIESEL functions can be used to perform a variety of useful work, including mathematical and logical operations, the retrieval of AutoCAD system variable values, and the printing of data to the status line. DIESEL functions are not as numerous as those available in AutoLISP and they are limited to a maximum of ten parameters, including the name of the function. The +, or addition, function can accept only nine arguments, for example. Unlike AutoLISP, you cannot define new DIESEL functions. Despite these, and certain other limitations, the catalog of DIESEL functions is more than adequate for working with and composing customized status line macros.

Keep in mind that DIESEL is a string-processing language, and it expects strings as input and returns strings to its environment.
